Science Has Found Proof of God’s Existence
While Einstein didn’t believe it was possible, Stephen Hawkins thought this might be the greatest scientific discovery of all time.
What kind of discovery could have puzzled some of the greatest scientific geniuses of the past century? What made them question the origin of our universe? With the power of technology, new and more powerful telescopes have unlocked some of the most enigmatic mysteries of our universe and have offered us amazing new scientific insight into the origin of life.
Has science finally found proof that God exists?
Hasn’t science already proven God isn’t necessary to explain the universe?
What makes this discovery so fundamentally different, and why has it had such a momentous effect in the scientific world?
Due to discovering this and the sophisticated coding within DNA, many scientists admitted that both the universe and life might be part of some grand design.
“Many scientists, when they admit their views, incline toward the design argument”.
Surprisingly, many scientists who talk about God now don’t hold any religious beliefs whatsoever.
What are these amazing discoveries that prompted scientists to suddenly speak of God? Without further ado, there are three revolutionary discoveries from the fields of molecular biology and astronomy that stand out:
- The Universe Had a Beginning
- The Universe Is Just Right For Life
- DNA Coding Reveals Intelligence
The Universe Had a One-Time Beginning
Since earliest times, humans have been mesmerized by the stars, wondering what they are and how they got there. Even though on a clear night the naked eye can spot only 6000 stars, with the help of Hubble and other powerful telescopes it was revealed there are billion-trillion stars clustered in over 100 billion galaxies. This means our sun is simply like a grain of sand amongst the world’s beaches. However, before the 20th century, most scientists suggested that the Milky Way galaxy was the whole universe, with only around 100 million stars.
The majority of scientists in the past thought our universe never had a beginning. They held on to the belief that mass, space, and energy which compose our entire universe had always existed. Nevertheless, in the early 20th century, astronomer Edwin Hubble found out that the universe is expanding. By using mathematical calculations, he came to learn that everything in the universe, energy, matter, space, even time itself, actually had a beginning.
This shocked the scientific community to the core. A lot of scientists, among which was Einstein, had a negative reaction. Describing this as the biggest blunder in his life, Einstein fudged the equations to disprove the implication that the universe had a beginning. One of the fiercest adversaries of the idea that the universe had a beginning was British astronomer Sir Frederick Hoyle, who sarcastically gave the creation its name “big bang”. He firmly held onto his steady state theory that the universe had always existed, as did Einstein and other scientists until the proof for the beginning became overwhelming.
In 1992, finally, the COBE satellite experiments proved that the universe actually did a one-time beginning in an extraordinary flash of light and energy. Some scientists called this the moment of creation, but most preferred to refer to it as the “big bang”.
Nevertheless, science cannot tell us what or who caused the universe’s creation. Some believe it clearly points to a Creator. A number of scientists with agnostic beliefs claim that the only way the big bang could have happened was by the mighty hand of divine power, God.
Soon, cosmologists who study the universe and its origin, realized that an accidental cosmic explosion could never produce life any more than a nuclear bomb would unless that was its precise task. So, this means a designer must have planned it. In turn, words such as “Super-intellect”, “Creator” or “Supreme Being” were used to describe this designer.
The Universe Is Finely-Tuned For Life
Physicists calculated that our universe and life couldn’t exist if gravity and other laws of physics that govern our universe weren’t intricately tuned just right. For instance, Stephen Hawking argues that if the rate of expansion of the universe had been slightly smaller, gravity would have pulled all matter back into a “big crunch”.
On the other hand, if the expansion rate had been slightly greater than it was, all planets, galaxies, stars would never have formed, and we wouldn’t be here.
In order for life to exist, the conditions in both our solar system and our planet also need to be right. But, even though oxygen, water, calcium, hydrogen, sodium, nitrogen, carbon and phosphorus are essential for life, that alone is not sufficient enough for life to exist.
There is also a dozen of other conditions like size, temperature, relative proximity, the chemical makeup of our planet that need to be just right. While religious scientists expected this kind of fine-tuning, atheists and agnostics couldn’t explain these remarkable “coincidences”.
The Universe’s Creation: Accident or Miracle?
What are the odds of human life existing by chance of a random cosmic explosion? According to one astronomer, the odds of a random big band producing life would be equal to one person winning over a thousand consecutive mega-million dollar lotteries by purchasing only one ticket for each. And that’s quite impossible. Therefore, scientists came to the conclusion: someone must have operated behind the scenes and created the universe. In any case, other scientists still seek explanations for the existence of our universe.
DNA: The Language of Life
The intricately complex design in the microscopic world of DNA was discovered by molecular biologists in 1953. The more they discovered about this tiny molecule, which has been called the “brains” of each cell in our bodies, the more amazed scientists were at its brilliance. While some scientists who think that the material world is all there is, like Richard Dawkins, believe DNA evolved by natural selection without a Creator, even most ardent evolutionists argue that the DNA’s complexity is unexplainable.
DNA’s co-discoverer, Francis Crick believed DNA could never have originated on Earth naturally and must have come from outer space. A mere pinhead volume of DNA has information equal to a stack paperback books that could encircle the world 5000 times.
Noted atheist, Antony Flew said the findings of more than fifty years of DNA research have provided materials to show that intelligence must have somehow been involved in getting these extraordinarily diverse elements together.
The Life And The Universe Have The Fingerprints of a Creator
Does this mean scientists are now convinced that a Creator has left his “fingerprints” on the universe? Although many would like nothing more than to separate God from the universe, most recognize that these discoveries bring religious implications.
Could there be a Creator after all?
If a super-intelligent Creator really does exist, the inevitable question arises: “What is he like?” Is he like the “Cosmic Force” in Star Wars, or is he just like us?
Nobel Prize winner in Physics and professor at Stanford University, Arthur L. Schawlow believes the only possible answers to these questions are religious. He finds a need for God in the universe and in his own life.
However, science cannot provide us with answers about God and the purpose of life, which leads us to another question. Since the Bible was right about creation from nothing, could it also be right about God, life, and purpose?
The Man Who Changed The World
Two thousand years, a man who claimed he had the answer to life made an impact which changed the world. His name is Jesus Christ. Although his life on Earth was brief, eyewitnesses who saw him tell us that he demonstrated some creative powers over nature’s laws. They also tell us he was the one who flung the stars into space, fine-tuned the universe and created DNA as well.
Was Jesus Christ the one who Einstein unknowingly referred to as “super-intelligence” behind the universe? Have the Creator and intelligence of DNA been revealed in the New Testament?
As a Creator, Jesus would certainly have power over life and death. Those closest to him say they saw him alive three days after he died and was buried. If that didn’t really happen, then Christianity has been founded upon a lie. But, if that’s true, it provides enough evidence to support all that Jesus said about God, himself and us.
